King Crimson
Debut at Hyde Park '69

bootleg
1996?
Plumpton Festival, Hyde Park, London, 8/9/69 (possibly 5/5/69).

Sound: the best available for a bootleg of this band; if shrill and
brittle it is nonetheless more open and detailed than either the
severely sound-processed Plumpton or the somewhat restrained
Chesterfield. Not the complete show... Opening of the disc is
announcement that previous song in set was Donovan's “Get Thy
Bearings” and presumably the opener was “Schizoid Man”.
Performance generally good, and the last two and a half minutes of
“Travel Weary Capricorn” is some of the oddest free playing of the
early band so far uncovered. Fripp actually comes in a beat before
the rest of the band on “ITCOTCK”.

bootleg

Recorded live at Richard's Club, Atlanta, GA, June 23, 1973, and
the Stanley Warner Theater, Pittsburgh, PA, April 29, 1974.

Sound: varies, muddy to very clear.
        Sound: excellent throughout.

Here we have a little bit different version, at least what I've
heard, of “Larks' Tongues Part I” because it has a short group
improvisation after that demonic guitar passage as in studio
version. Yes, demonic indeed, because it sounds to me, and I hate
to say this, but Fripp fucks up in that fast guitar part... well,
what the heck, nobody's perfect. [RS]
