The Exiles Solos This tab transcribes several Robert Fripp solo’s played on various releases of Exiles. After my King Crimson Collectors Club membership, I have at least 10 different versions of Exiles from the ’72, ’73, ’74 band and RF seemed to play a different solo on each one. The earliest live ’72 versions don’t have guitar solos while the studio version has an acoustic guitar/violin solo before and one electric solo following the bridge. Macahan (the_unifaun at hotmail dot com) has an excellent tab of the entire studio version. I only tabbed the electric solos. Live performances from ’73 & '74 featured 2 RF solos, 1 before the bridge and 1 after. I’ve transcribed 6 different solos, 2 before the bridge and 4 after. I’ve broken up the solos into bars and chords but listen to the recorded versions to get the exact timing. You’ll need the CD versions of USA, The Night Watch, Live at Mainz, and of course, Larks Tongues in Aspic to follow along.
