"What a lovely gift to King Crimson Fans! I never thought I could be MORE impressed by this band, but they seem to get better with every tour. Let me just say this...Trey Gunn IS a monster!!! The interplay of inter-weaving, offbeat guitar phrases effortlessly executed by Fripp and Belew has progressed from innovative to astounding from 1981 until now. Many times, I was overwhelmed by just how tight and outrageously dedicated these fellows are. Some people say the camera work is jumpy, that there are too many cuts. I disagree. I think the camera-work and sound are very well done. I really enjoyed the light show, also...great job with the enormous rhino horns. Whew-Hoo!
"* Introductory Soundscape Beautiful... reminiscent of BBoom from Argentina
"* The Power To Believe I: A Cappella
"* Level Five : Didn't think they could improve on the original, but they surpassed it....what a ride! Robert smiled!
"* ProzaKc Blues they seemed to be really enjoying this one
"* The ConstruKction Of Light : 3 years of playing this tune has propelled it to magnificence!
"* Happy With What You Have To Be Happy With : Adrian choose to only sing parts of the chorus, and this slightly truncated version works great!
"* Elektrik ... Beautiful, haunting...2003's answer to Frakctured
"* One Time : The one and only Thrak tune...well done and supplemented
"* Facts Of Life : I like it better than the studio version, a little plodding here and there, but fun
"* The Power To Believe II: Power Circle surpasses the original... great visual effects on the lighting
"* Dangerous Curves "Now that's dedication!" -my friend Al, after watching Adrian play essentially the same lick for 5 minutes...
"* Larks' Tongues In Aspic, Part IV : Adrian Kills it with his solo, searing heat-metal-acid-overdrive...breathtaking
"* The Deception Of The Thrush : Trey plays a great solo at the end, very lovely and lonely
"* The World's My Oyster Soup Kitchen Floor Wax Museum : extended version, a lot of twists and turns, vastly improved from the original and very different
"I thought it was so cool that Adrian hugged Robert at the end and you could see Robert say "Bravo!" to Adrian. Pat and Trey, welcome to the club. It's amazing to see these guys progress in writing, playing and composition from the incredible sophistication of the TCOL era. They just keep getting better, amazingly enough! And they give the fans what they want...and I sure got that with this excellent release.
"I wish there had been a full live version of Eyes Wide Open, but the outtakes were neat. It was awesome to see Adrian up-close for the Sheprad's Bush TOAPP encore. The video for Shepard's Bush is very dark, and has an "audience-shot" kind of feel, but I think that adds to the mystique. There have been complaints about the "hard Cuts". I can see where this would bother some people...it doesn't worry me too much and I like the motivation behind the "different-improv-for-every-viewing" idea. I use the "Songs" menu and individually choose the improvs, and this works better for me. However, I would have preferred smooth transitions like on the "Deja Vroom" dvd, but I can live with it. The sync does go way off on my machine during Heroes, which David Singleton attributes to cheap dvd players. Still, not much of a bother to me.
"Highly recommended 4.5 stars out of 5"
